St. Mary's Church, Great Bedwyn
Welcome to St. Mary's Church, Great Bedwyn.
Great Bedwyn is a compact village with a vibrant community and is situated on the pretty River Dun and the Kennet & Avon Canal. Among its assets are a post office, two pubs, a village store, a hairdresser and the railway station. Villagers are also very proud of the excellent school and the doctors’ surgery. There is the Link Scheme which provides services for the local people, chiefly transport to the local surgery and hospitals. Sports available include the tennis, croquet and cricket clubs.
Various activities taking place on a regular basis in the village hall include the playgroup and toddlers groups, the youth club, WI and Pantomime Society.
There is a History Society, the Millennium Choir, and the Music Society, all of whom use St. Mary’s Church as a venue and which, in addition to the normal Sunday services, hosts a monthly Community Lunch and, on most Saturdays in summer, serves teas and home-made cakes.
